Patricia Louise Hicks, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024. Pat, as her family, friends, and former colleagues knew her, was born on September 12, 1946, in Manhattan Kansas.

Pat is survived by her three loving children, Janelle (Tom) Tesar, Robert (Kathleen) Hicks, Tamra (John Cravens) Valadez. She is the grandmother to five grandchildren: Mike (Brittany) Thiem, Anthony (Kelly) Tesar, Elizabeth (Simone Wrencher) Hicks, Patrick Hicks, Samuel Valadez. She is great grandmother to Zack, Kyle, Pacey, Hunter, Benjamin, Liam, Dallas, Quinn, and Colt. Pat also leaves behind the family pet labradoodle, Diego.

The oldest daughter to Margaret and Arthur Hoffman she, and her younger sister Peggy, grew up in Riley Kansas. Pat graduated from the local high school in Kansas and headed to the big city of Chicago. Pat was a tenacious businesswoman and had a lengthy career working in the car business, she retired from the position of Assistant General Manager of Manheim’s Greater Chicago Auto Auction approximately fifteen years ago. Pat was particularly interested in our National Parks, Elephants, and health related charitable organizations which she donated to throughout her life. Pat loved to read and to learn.

Pat often remarked that she would not be remembered for her career, that her grandchildren would remember her for her cooking which she found ironic because she did not enjoy cooking at all. She cooked for them and with them out of love. But I, Tamra, always told her “I will remember Mom.”

A private family celebration of life will be held at Maher Funeral Home in Tinley Park, IL on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

Eleanor Jean Wiegand, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on Wednesday,

September 13 th, 2023 in her Frankfort Illinois home surrounded by her family. Jean, as her loved ones

to swim at Division 1 schools. A devoted animal lover and staunch environmental defender, she

passions throughout her life, none were as important to her as spending time with her daughter and

best friend Carol, her granddaughter Hayden, and dear lifelong friends like Nancy Clements, Starla Gray,

Lois Jacobsma, and Tracy Sullivan. Jean loved to read and to learn. The last poem she would share with

her friends summed up her approach to life better than we ever could:

Live every day

As if it’s your last,

Let go of the pain

And forgive the past.

Our time is short

And slipping fast,

It won’t be long

‘til our minute has passed.

Allan Leroy Mager, known among friends and family as Al, Big Al, Medium Al, Pops, or Papa, was a lifelong
resident of Frankfort, Illinois, the town that he loved & served as a village trustee for 8 years. He was born
on the 2nd of August in 1940 to Leroy & Marie Mager and passed away on Friday the 27th of January,
2023, at 82 years of age.
Allan graduated from Lincoln-Way High School in 1957 and went on to receive an engineering degree from
Case Western Reserve in Ohio. He then attended Northwestern University where he earned an MBA.
He married the love of his life, Diane McCleary, on June 22nd, 1963. He began a career in advertising,
ultimately working his way up to the position of Sr. Vice President at Ogilvy & Mather.
He would go on to travel the world while working on landmark ad campaigns across a 30+ year career.
Al loved life and lived more in his 82 years than most people could fit into two lifetimes. He and Diane
enjoyed a lake house, where they hosted family and friends in Coloma, Michigan for many years. He was
truly the life of any party and was always quick with a joke or a hug. He was a lifelong baseball fan and an
avid golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed days at the lake, nights out to the theater, dinner with family and
friends, or a game of cards or dominoes.
The consummate gentleman and family man, Al was everything you could ask for from a husband, father,
grandfather & friend. He was a role model that was funny, wise, patient, kind, chivalrous and admired by all
who met him. His family looked to him as both a leader and a unifying presence who brought everyone
together. He loved nothing more than spending quality time with the family he’d built.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Diane, and is survived by his three daughters: Michelle Mager
of New Lenox, IL, Melissa (Doug) Barnard of Portage, MI, and Misten (Aaron) Boysen of Traverse City, MI; six
grandchildren: Devin (Evan) Allison of Arvada, CO, Cass (Melinda) Gardner of Manchester, MO, Jackson
Barnard, Mitchell Barnard, Maren Boysen, and Monroe Boysen; and one great grandchild: Graham Gardner.

Memorial visitation will be held at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ,
12 W. Sauk Trail, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
With a Memorial Service in the church starting at 11:00 a.m.

A Celebration of Life Reception to follow the service from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM at:
Chef Klaus’ Bier Stube - 20827 S. LaGrange Road - Frankfort, IL 60423
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations to
St. Peter’s United Church of Christ would be appreciated.
(Interment on February 19th will be private.)

After a long life devoted to an engineering career, his two families, and helping others, Jack Eugene Cox passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 6, 2022 at the distinguished age of 96. Starting at age 95, he fought a 15-month battle with lung cancer directly related to his early former smoking years. His physicians marveled at the excellent physical condition he was in when diagnosed, and how long he fought before the disease finally took him. After his second beloved wife, Arletta Lotz Berglund Cox passed in 2006, Jack moved from Frankfort, IL to spend the rest of his life as a resident of Cross Keys Village, a marvelous Brethren continuing care community in New Oxford, PA just east of historic Gettysburg. He was an active part of the community there, took daily brisk walks, swam three times per week, and volunteered to “drive the old folks around” on campus to run their errands.
Along with 11 siblings, of whom he was the 2nd, Jack was born at home on August 14, 1926 and hailed from the tiny (population 122 when he was a child!) farming town of Foster, Nebraska. He is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Cox Anderson of Carlsbad, CA and Dianne Cox Ellingson of Sun City, AZ. Very proud of his humble roots, he often told stories of growing up in the tough dust bowl and depression years, working as a truck driver and in hog slaughter houses, and as a gas station attendant. Jack proudly enlisted and spent two years of military service in World War II as an Army staff sergeant, followed by college at Iowa State University where he graduated in civil engineering, and spent 38 years as project manager for Chicago Bridge and Iron Company. He was the Harry and Bessie Cox family genealogist, which led to history research expeditions in Salt Lake City, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Scotland, among other places. Even in his final days, he kept mentally sharp playing Sudoku and actively used his Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad - who does that in their mid 90s!? Jack was passionate about his lifelong conservative politics, as well as long-distance driving to be with family, downhill skiing and golf, which he finally gave up in his early 90s.
Jack was a devoted father to Jenny Cox Hook (Hingham, MA), Christoper Charles Cox (Missoula, MT) and Sally Jo Cox Pyle (Glen Rock, PA) as well as to Arlett’s children Lynne Berglund West Recupido (now deceased) and Jeffrey Berglund (Frankfort, IL). He was very proud of and loved to glowingly talk about his 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Jack’s family is extremely grateful for the devoted and caring community of his neighbors, employees and especially campus nurses at Cross Keys Village, Dr. Thomas Keller, the oncology health care workers of Wellspan Gettysburg and Johns Hopkins Baltimore, and the hospice workers who provided compassionate comfort care while preserving his dignity in the last weeks of life.
Jack was passionate about many charities, but most especially Boys Town in Nebraska. Both penny-pinchers, Jack and Arlett had this thing about not spending money on cut flowers ;-) Therefore, in lieu of those, we know he would appreciate any monies directed to either boystown.org or cancer.org.
Memorial services will be held in the Nicarry Meetinghouse at Cross Key’s Village, 2990 Carlisle Road, New Oxford, 1:00 PM January 7, 2023.

Additional visitation and memorial service Saturday June 3, 1:00 PM at Maher Funeral Home 17101 71st Ave., Tinley Park, IL. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers Jack preferred Boys Town or American Cancer Society.

Lee attended Joliet Catholic High School and graduated in the Class of 1957. Lee constantly strived to create a better life for himself and those he loved. He joined the Air Force in 1958 because of his interest in flying and became a medic.
