Leroy Olson was an inspiration to me and, I'm sure, to many others. I had many wonderful teachers, but he was the reason that I became a teacher and coach. He was my first real basketball coach and introduced me to the game that I coached for 30 years and love to this day. Although he rooted for the White Sox and I for the Cubs, there was a strong bond that began with baseball, covered the classroom, and remained throughout these many years. "Mr. Olson" will always be remembered. Blessings to him and his family. Keith Schram Frankfort Grade School Class of 1962

My deepest sympathies to Kim and your family. I remember your Dad when I was teaching at Lincoln-Way. I remember talking with him, on occasion, Kim, after a field hockey game. When I would see him at a district meeting he would always stop and talk with me. So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing...hope you are well. I see you are married and have children. Prayers.

My sincere sympathies to the Olson family. I worked for Leroy for nearly 20 years prior to his retirement; his even- handedness plus sincere concern for staff and students were admirable. He was truly a humble and delightful man.

Dear Lena and family, Danny and I send our prayers and sincere regrets at Leroy's passing. He was a good friend and the best Superintendent Frankfort has ever had. Rest in peace Leroy. I can hear Marty now, greeting Leroy at the Golden Gate! Teresa and Danny

I was hired as a teacher and then a principal by Leroy. I worked for him for 16 years and I will say it was the best years of my working years. I learned so much from him as an educational leader. He always wanted the best for the students of Frankfort. He never wanted to be in the light. During the past few years, I was able to spend time and have phone conversations with Leroy. I saw first hand that he always loved Frankfort and the Frankfort Schools. But most of all he loved his family. I am so sorry for your loss but we can and must always remember his laugh and his stories but never forget that Leroy Olson made the Frankfort School District 157C what it is today.

So very sorry to hear of Mr. Olson's passing. He was a great principle and teacher. I was in his care from 1960 until 1966 and spent many hours talking with Mr. Olson in his office, mostly for some stupid or disruptive stunt I pulled. I have to admit his punishments were creative and effective, most times. I learned alot from my time at Frankfort Grade School, when it was the only school in town and Mr. Olson the only principle. I will always remember Mr. Olson and my deepest regards and sympathies to his family!
