Stephanie M. Raczka (nee Sromek)

October 13, 1922 - July 12, 2018

Stephanie Raczka (nee Sromek) late of Matteson, IL formerly of Roseland and Crete, IL passed away peacefully on July 12, 2018.

Sister of the late Ann Kozlowski, Helen Mickolayck, the late Irene Chisek, the late Vince Sromek and William Sromek. Loving aunt of 10, great aunt of 28, great-great aunt of 43, great-great-great aunt of 3.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank.

Stephanie was an Army nurse in WWII, and continued on in the nursing field in a clinic in Blue Island, and then with an ophthalmologist in Harvey until retirement. Loving friend of John Duda, who was her ride to many places.

She was active in establishing a volunteer fire department in Steger Estates in the 1950s, along with her brothers. Later when she moved to Timber Ridge in Matteson, she helped organize a senior group (Golden Oaks) and helped with getting their Bingo permit in the 80s, which she ran with the help of her sister and others. Stephanie was always active in bowling, and was secretary for many years. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on July 17, 2018 from 3-6 pm at Robey Park Funeral Home, Chicago Heights, IL. Interment private, and her final resting place will be Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Arrangements by Gerardi Funeral Home, Frankfort, IL.
