Philip J. Ortegel

August 6, 1933 - July 27, 2016

Philip J. Ortegel Sr., age 82, late of Greenwood, IN, formerly of Frankfort & Tinley Park, IL, passed away July 27, 2016.  Philip was a veteran of the US Army National Guard (Korean War), as well as a Teamster Member, who retired after 35 plus years of over the road driving for Transport Service Company.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Elizabeth Ortegel, his first wife Agatha Carlene, his brother Ronald and sisters Patricia (Paul) Parent and Dolores (Melvin) Schuldt.

Survived by his wife Barbara (nee Sager), son; Philip Jr. (Sheila), stepdaughter Pamela (James) Price, stepsons; Sam F.(Jenny) Cox & John (Liz) Anthis, sisters; Joan (the late Albert) Castronovo, Mary (Peter) Vaas & Trudy (Jim) Holuj, brothers Peter Joseph (Barbara), grandchildren; Philip Ortegel III, Justen Ortegel, Christina  Laura O’Brien, Tyler & Tanner Gipson, Jordan & James Price III, Morgan & Mason Cox, Sydney & Ella Anthis, Kayla & Kyle McCune & Shelby & Jake Soloman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Gerardi Funeral Home, 9501 West Lincoln Hwy (1 block east of LaGrange Rd. on Rt. 30) Frankfort, IL.  Prayers will be held on Monday at 10:30 am at the funeral home, immediately following will be the procession to Saint Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox, IL for Mass of the Christian Burial at 11:00 am.  Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Frankfort, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
