Marissa Lynn Koziel, age 21, of Mokena IL passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 23, 2018.

She was born June 11, 1996 to Brian Koziel and Colette Doner. She is survived by her mother Colette (nee Messina) (Shawn Doner); her father Brian Koziel (Lori Budka); her brother(s) and best friend Bradley Koziel, Joe Budka and Ryan Dunne; her sisters Kelly Budka, Katie Doner and Tara (Hayden) Howard her aunts; Barbara Messina, Deborah (the late Chad) Carder, Kathy (Kevin) Boehm; uncles Sean (Weronika) Koziel, Jon (Valarie) Koziel; grandparents Patricia (the late Alexander) Messina, Mary & Ronald Koziel.  Preceded in death by her grandfathers Alexander Messina Sr. and Ralph Doner; and her uncles Alexander Messina Jr. And Chad Carder.

Marissa was a beautiful soul who was taken much too soon from her family. She will be dearly remembered for her passion, humor and joyful smile.

Marissa is already missed beyond measure by her loving parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Gerardi Funeral Home, 9501 West Lincoln Hwy (1 block east of LaGrange Road on RT. 30) Frankfort, IL.  Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 11:00 A.M to the time of prayers at 12:00 P.M., followed by Interment at Saint Johns United Church of Christ Mokena Cemetery, Mokena IL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to YWCA-Evanston/Northshore Domestic Violence Program or The Nature Conservancy.
