Our hearts are broken with Lou's passing and our most sincere condolences go out to Nanci and their entire beautiful family. We pray they continue to be strong and know that God, indeed, "only takes the best". We loved him, and will miss him dearly. He was our pal and our fun stick. He suffers no more and for that, alone, we are grateful. Rest in peace, Lou, until we meet again.

So many memories of Mr. Katula in the house on Eggleston. Probably the most vivid one, more than 40 years old, is when he had Missy and me chew multiple pieces of Juicy Fruit gum, one piece at a time, late one afternoon, while standing in the dining room. He then had us hand them to him after we had chewed them to a softened state, devoid of sugar. Missy and I looked at each other, perplexed. With the typical Lou grin and twinkle in his eye, he took the wads of gum and used it to reaffix the corner of a piece of wallpaper that was falling down, using the edge of his lighter to smooth out any bumps or ridges. You see, there was a buyer heading over to the house to take another look and we were heading over to Heather Lane to see the progress of the new place! We were sworn to secrecy. I have kept that promise until today. Godspeed, Mr. Katula, until we meet again.

I was so sad to hear of Lou's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with Nanci and the entire Katula Family. Sending our love - Glen and Pati God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be So he put His arms around you And whispered "Come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you As you slowly slipped away And though we loved you dearly We couldn't make you stay. Your golden heart stopped beating Your tired hands put to rest God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. - God Saw You Getting Tired, by Frances and Kathleen Coelho

Prayers to the Katula family. I remember spending time at the Katula house when we were younger. Enjoyed our days at Thunder Bowl as well. Rest in Peace Mr. Katula.
