Gary F. Gerardi, 62, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Chicago Heights, Illinois passed away July 26, 2019, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida.
Gary was born February 1, 1957, in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Eugene “Jake” and Maryanne Gerardi. He attended Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
Loving father of Gary Jr. (Julie) and Gina (Chris) Travis. Loving stepfather of Christine (Greg) McNeely. Proud grandfather of Izabella, Gianna, Nolan, Alessandra, Luca, Brittney, Carly and Jaimie. Survived by his siblings Larry (his twin brother), Gene “Butch”, Janis (Ken) Rudnicki, Marianne (Gilbert) Fushi, Jerry, Caralie (Phil) Cristelli, Rob (Janon) and Leroy (Gretchen) Sutherland, as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Eugene “Jake” and Maryanne Gerardi, as well as his loving wife Lois.
Gary worked for Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and watching baseball. His family, his dogs, the Chicago Bears and his ever beloved Chicago Cubs were his favorite past times. He will forever be remembered as the absolute best Papa in the world and as a father who had a heart of gold. His smile and sense of humor lit up every room he ever entered. His kindness touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. In the words of Gary “Give yourself a hug and kiss from me”.
The family would like to thank Sarasota Memorial Hospital for taking such good care of Gary and for accepting him into their amazing family.
