Caroline Barba Gonzalez

June 21, 1931 - November 16, 2016

Caroline Barba (nee Gonzalez), age 85, late of Frankfort, IL formerly of Chicago Heights, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.

While many knew Caroline as a homemaker, she worked for more than 50 years in numerous roles.  Her greatest joys besides her children and grandchildren, were cooking, baking, walking and working with the church.  Caroline was a devout catholic, gifted with God’s intuition.  She was endowed with divine favor and protection.

Caroline was one of the most compassionate, loving and giving people in the world. That loved showed in her faithfulness to her family. In a word, she was amazing.

Caroline is survived by her husband Richard Barba; daughters, Doris (Ronald) Hasenkamp, Alice (Pat) Goncher, Carol (Bruce) Palmer; sons, Salvador, David and Richard (Deborah) Barba Jr; sisters, Jenny Vela, Emily Valadez, Ophelia Marquez, Alice Sweeney, Carmen Morton and Geri Zamora; brothers, Bob Gonzales, Rudy Gonzalez and Ron Torres; grandchildren, Leyonna Barba, Ryan (Amanda) Barba, Eryn Barba, Eryka (Andrew) Davis, Krissa (James) Goncher, Kasey Barba, Haley Barba and Aubrey Barba; great-grandchildren, Adelynne Davis, Carter Barba, Liam Davis; sister-in-law Alice (Ray) Aleman in addition to a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Josephine and Domingo Gonzalez; sister, Adele Esparza; brother, Tony Gonzalez; stepfather, Charlie Torres; sister-in-law Carol Gonzales and brother-in-law Rudy Zamora

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1501 Chicago Road, Chicago Heights, IL. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church.
